WHAT’S BREWIN’ WITH YOU!?
TIME TO SOCIALIZE! Lincoln Lager Member Jason Krontz is hosting an in-person, backyard social on Wednesday, May 19, from 6 to 9 p.m. Please contact Jason to RSVP via Facebook PM, phone 402-660-5718 or e-mail email@example.com. Let’s share some homebrew!
2021 BIG BREW… A big thank you to Matt Gohring and Code Brewing for providing wort for this year’s Big Brew. Nineteen brewers brewed 130 gallons on Saturday, May 1. The recipe included the following: 74.5% Briess 2-row, 9.3% Briess Carapils, 6.2% Briess Caramel 40, 5.0% Canada Malting Red Wheat, 5.0% Briess Chocolate Malt. Target for OG was 1.055. Look for this brew to show up at meetings in June and July. Hey! If we want to do a BB gathering and tasting, Matt said he would welcome us back to Code. Perhaps a June or July social gathering at Code?!
MEMBERSHIP… You want to get in on a bunch of exciting homebrew opportunities this year? Well, don’t forget to pay your dues. Click here. Scroll down past the members list and you’ll see the PayPal business.
COMBINED CLUB-BREW EVENT… From the South Omaha SOB’s Bernie Doerr: “Hello Lagers. The South Omaha Brewers would like to do a combined brew event with you in Lincoln this summer. We are thinking about a pro-am event at a brewery. We have started looking for a host, but wanted to know if you are interested.” Are we interested? I think we are, however, we’re going to need some support from the membership. Who would like to volunteer to help with this group event?
THE NEBRASKA SHOOTOUT… A friendly reminder from your president: As you plan out your brewing schedule for the year, consider making one of the styles for the 2021 Nebraska Shootout. To avoid conflict any major craft beer/home brewing events scheduled this spring, it is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, July 31.
The styles for the competition (and subcategories) are as follows:
02. International Lager (2B, 2C)
18. Pale American Beer (18B)
29. Fruit Beer (all subcategories)
33. Wood Beer (all subcategories)
Fun/bonus category: 4 Things. This is any style beer, brewed using four adjuncts.
