August Meeting moved to White Elm: Thursday, August 7, 2025

On Thursday, August 7, join us for the monthly meeting at White Elm Brewing Company,720 Van Dorn St., Lincoln, NE 68502. Social hour at 6 p.m. and meeting at 7 p.m. On the agenda will be discussion about the rapidly approaching Sower’s Cup homebrew competition. Bring some homebrew to share, will ya?!?

Things to remember for the Cup:

• If you’ve reserved spots, please be sure to get your payment in ASAP.
• Members should have received an email with volunteering opportunities.
  • Stewards will receive $5 in raffle tickets for every session covered.
  • The club will cover a meal voucher and the Sower’s Pup suggested donation for anyone who judges.
  • The club will cover the Sower’s Pup suggested donation for anyone who volunteers for at least two Sower’s Cup opportunities.
  • The club will cover a meal voucher for Sower’s Pup volunteers, and the suggested donation is waived. We’re working on a little exclusive “thank you” for this as well!

Sunday Funday Road Trip Social to Stone Hollow Brewing Co.

We’ll be headed to Stone Hollow Brewing Company in Beatrice this coming Sunday, August 3! Here is the link to the Facebook event. There will be options for carpools. The brewery opens at 1 p.m., so we’ll be leaving Lincoln around 12:30 p.m.

The 2025 Sower’s Pup: Fundraiser for the The Farm – Senior Dog Sanctuary

We are doing The Sower’s Pup again this year and could use your help to get the word out! Share the link to the Facebook event. We’re strongly encouraging people to reserve their spots ahead of time, so that we’re able to provide estimated numbers to MetaModern. Last year we raised $1540.48 for The Farm: Senior Dog Sanctuary! Let’s see if we can get that over $2000 this year!

The 2025 Nebraska Shootout: Saturday, July 19, 2025

The Nebraska Shootout is an annual homebrew contest between all of the homebrewing clubs and beer-brewing social organizations withing Nebraska. This year’s event was held on Saturday, July 19, at Boiler Brewing Co. There were 63 entries and 41 registered participants, judges and stewards.

Here are the Lincoln Lagers who won medals:

• Lacy Phillippe & Zach Fenton – MDC: Berry Mead (Tree Shaker) – 2nd Place – Specialty Mead (9 entries)
• Mark Beatty – MDC: Semi-sweet Mead (Guatemalan Coffee Blossom) – 3rd Place – Specialty Mead (9 entries)
• Mark Beatty – Best Damn Beer (Liquid Gold) – 1st Place
