Meeting & Potluck Party at Boiler Brewing in January

Holiday Potluck at Boiler Brewing – Thursday – Jan. 9, 2025!

Hello and Happy Holidays, Lagers!

Due to the proximity of the holidays, the meeting date has been moved to Thursday, January 9, at 6 p.m. We will be meeting at the downtown taproom of the Boiler Brewing Company. This meeting is also our holiday potluck, so please bring something fun to share! Bonus points if you use beer as an ingredient!

We are also going to have our annual Holiday Bottle Share. We are asking that you bring a bomber to give away and that you spend at least $10 on it. Participation is strictly voluntary, but if you want to go home with a bomber, you must bring one with you. Please make sure it’s something you wouldn’t mind drinking. NO CRAPPY BEERS! (Can you get bomber-sized crappy beer?)

Those able to attend the December meeting were also introduced to something fun we’re doing in 2025: Lincoln Lagers BINGO! We’ll have physical copies available at our January events. It’s fairly self-explanatory and should hopefully create some opportunities to add new or interesting things to your 2025 homebrewing experiences. It’s a chance to win gift cards to local breweries! Note that paying your dues before the end of January is one of the squares!

Our January social is scheduled for Thursday, January 23, 6 p.m. at Corn Coast Brewing Company.

Lincoln Lager Brewery Scale-ups!

• Doug Finke’s “Rice’n Easy”: It’s a rice lager using continental Pilsner malt, flaked rice, noble hops, and a crisp German yeast. Expect a light grainy malt character with a touch of grain sweetness, light floral hop character, and a clean dry finish. 4.3% abv. Available now at Code Beer Company!
• Kim Theesen’s “Three Broomsticks”: Kim’s mugwort ale won the scale-up after taking the gold medal the historical category in the 2024 Sower’s Cup. This gruit features mugwort, juniper berries and a collection of herbs and is scheduled to go on tap at Boiler Brewing Company on Thursday, January 16. The tapping will coincide with Boiler’s Harry Potter Trivia Night.
• Nick Langtry’s “Thiol Driver”: A Hazy IPA that used hops in the mash and a genetically modified yeast that unlocks bound thiol compounds to express fruity characteristics. It’s scheduled to be released in early January at Corn Coast Brewing Company!

Night at the Stars – Lincoln Stars Hockey – Feb. 7, 2025!

Back to the Ice Box! Friday, February 7, 2025, is the official date for our Lincoln Stars Club Hockey Night! The Stars will be taking on our evil rivals, the Omaha Lancers. The Stars are currently ranked #1 in the western conference. Plus, the rink is doing Friday Night Pints where you can get $3 pours of a different rotating beer each week. This will be a game you won’t want to miss! LET’S GO, STARS!
