2024 Big Brew Taste-off Info

Big Brew Taste-off: Sunday, June 30, 2024

Join us at the home of club members Kim Theesen & Anita Jackson (1008 S. 32nd St. in Lincoln, Nebraska) next Sunday, June 30, at 2:00 p.m. We’ll get your Big Brew checked in and start judging at 3.

DATE/TIMES: Sunday, June 30, 2024… 2-3 p.m. is check in… Judging begins at 3 p.m…

THE ENTRIES: Bring along at least two 12-oz bottles or a crowler or growler of your 2024 Big Brew. If you want to take part and can’t be there, let us know and we’ll get your entries into the comp. If you got ten gallons and made two different beers from the wort, you’re allowed to enter ’em both. Please let us know if you’re planning to participate, so we can set up the area.

WHO CAN VOTE: All members are welcome, even if you didn’t brew in the Big Brew. You get to sample and vote!

THE PRIZES: We’re planning on gift cards from Code Beer Company for first, second and third places. More details to come.

Nebraska Shootout 2024 • Sunday, July 21 •  9:00 a.m.

We’ll be discussing the details for the 2024 Nebraska Shootout, the annual Nebraska brew club competition. The event is scheduled for Sunday, July 21, at Lucky Bucket Brewing Co. in La Vista. Omaha’s Homebrewers Local 402 are this year’s hosting club. Internal club judging for the Shootout will take place on July 7 at Turbine Flats from 3-6 p.m.

Here are the categories and timeline for this year’s competition:

• Pale Malty European Lager (Category 4)
• Amber Malty European Lager (Category 6)
• Dark European Lager (Category 8)
• Pale Commonwealth (Category 12)
• Specialty Category – BJCP Local Styles (Provisional Style)
• Best Damn Beer (Custom Style)

Judge/Steward Registration Open: May 17, 10:00 a.m.
Entries Open: June 1, 9:00 a.m.
Entries Drop Off/Shipping Acceptance: July 1 – July 13
Judging at Lucky Bucket: Saturday, July 20, 2024
