July 2025: Club Meeting and Nebraska Shootout

July Meeting at White Elm Brewing Company: Thursday, July 10, 2025

On Thursday, July 10, join us for the monthly meeting at White Elm Brewing Company, 720 Van Dorn St., Lincoln, NE 68502. We’ll kick off the social hour at 6 o’clock, taste some delicious White Elm brews, and get on with business starting at 7 p.m. The main task for July is figuring out which beers are moving forward to the Nebraska Shootout (more event details below). If you’ve brewed beers in any of these categories, please bring a bottle to the July meeting! We’ll do a tasting and determine which beers are the best. Good luck!

The 2025 Nebraska Shootout: Saturday, July 19, 2025

The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 19, at Boiler Brewing Co., downtown taproom, with judging to start at 10 a.m. The Lincoln Lagers inner club judging takes place on Thursday, July 10. Hopefully, we’ll have two beers for each category and bring home the title of “best homebrew club in Nebraska”!

One more thing, the Nebraska Shootout “Best of Show” winner is getting a scale-up at Patriot Brewery and Homebrew Supply! Your beer just might be featured in the Patriot taproom! Good luck!

The 2025 Shootout styles list:

• American Light Lager: 1A
• European Lager: All of 2, 3, 4, 5 (except 5B), 6, 7A, 8, 9 (except 9C because lager yeast not required)
• IPA: 12C, All of 21, 22A
• Wheat (clean ferments/no-sours): 1D, All of 10, 24A, 27 Piwo Grodziskie
• Fruit Beer (clean ferments/no-sours) = All 29, X3
• Specialty Category: All mead categories M1 through M4
• Best Damn Beer: 99A Custom Style

Go here for more specifics on the BJCP styles. Regarding the Best Damn Beer: This is an open category used for tie-breaker, bragging rights, and the “Rusty Capper” trophy. Not eligible for Cup points or for BOS round.
