What’s Happening with the Lincoln Lagers

On Thursday, June 5, check out the monthly meeting. We’ll be talking homebrew at Boiler Brewing Company, at the downtown taproom, 129 N. 10th St., Suite 8. If you haven’t been there, head for the alley (south side) and follow the stairs to the basement. Hey! It’s where the boilers and brewers are!

We have a few new members this year — and for those who are new to the club and going to your first meeting — bringing homebrew to share is encouraged and pre-approved for all meetings. (Note: For the club socials, however, we want to support our local breweries, cideries and taprooms; we do not have permission to consume homebrew at those.) For the club socials, we meet up at 6 and go until whenever. For the meetings, we’ll kick off the social hour at 6 o’clock, sample some of our host’s craftbeer, and get on with business starting at 7 p.m. Bring some homebrew to share! Please sign up on the sheet when you get there! Reach out with any questions about the meeting or the club. We’re (mostly) harmless. Cheers!

The Lagers’ Big Brew Taste-Off: Saturday, June 28, Kim & Anita’s 

We had lots of folks coming and going in waves at the 2025 Big Brew at the Code Beer Co. Thank you, Code Brewmeister Matt Gohring, for sharing your delicious wort with the club. We’ll be comparing and contrasting the results in this year’s Taste-Off at Kim & Anita’s place (1008 S. 32nd Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, 68510) on Saturday, June 28. More details coming soon!

For some history of the national Big Brew event, it’s held on the first Saturday in May. It’s an opportunity to fire up the kettle and raise a glass to the greatest hobby there is—homebrewing! In 1988, May 7 was announced before Congress as National Homebrew Day. The American Homebrewers Association created Big Brew as an annual event to celebrate around the world.

Sunday Funday Road Trip Social to Patriot Brewery & Homebrew Supply

On Sunday, June 29, the Lincoln Lagers Homebrew Club is coordinating a Sunday Social at Patriot in Elkhorn! We’ll coordinate carpools from Lincoln and plan to arrive at Patriot around noon – we’re even inviting our homebrew friends from Omaha to join us! Please respond to the event (click here for the FB event page) as appropriate so that we can have as accurate of a headcount as possible. See you there!

Those able to attend the last few meetings were also introduced to something fun we’re doing in 2025: Lincoln Lagers BINGO! We’ll have physical copies available at next meeting. It’s fairly self-explanatory and should hopefully create some opportunities to add new or interesting things to your 2025 homebrewing experiences. Plus, it’s a chance to win gift cards to local breweries! BINGO!!!

The 2025 Nebraska Shootout

The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 19, at Boiler Brewing Co., downtown taproom, exact times TBD. We have already heard a bit of excitement around it, including the David City crew (Brick Street brew club), Omaha’s 402s, and some interest from the UNL Big Red Brew Crew.
