This report just came in from LWS in the mail the other day. If you didn't get one or tossed it thinking it was junk mail, have another look. Here's some data for you water treaters:

Water Quality Parameters (12/10/2009)
pH: 7.71
Total Alkalinity (CaCO3): 160 ppm
Total Hardness (CaCO3): 200 ppm
(12 grains per gallon)
Total Dissolved Solids: 336 ppm

Calcium: 54.4 ppm
Chloride: 20.5 ppm
Iron: < 0.05 ppm

Manganese: 1.04 ppb
Sodium: 30.6 ppm
Sulfate: 77 ppm

"Lincoln's water is moderately hard. Alkalinity, pH and hardness are important if considering a water softener."

(Note: As of this posting, the 2009 report wasn't up yet on their Web site. Look for the "Annual Drinking Water Quality Report for 2009.")

It should be noted that LWS doesn't actually test for alkalinity (or bicarbonate), they just do some math off of the hardness. They also don't really test for anything that they don't print in the yearly report. So if you want magnesium or any other characteristics, you might be better off just paying the 20-odd dollars to send it in to a lab.
